Who are we?
Love The Bachelor but never have a space to talk about it? Find influencer culture innately interesting as both a social and business construct, but feel like you’re considered dumb for taking Instagram so seriously?
Welcome to your safe space: We’re Shameless and we’re shameless about our interest in celebrity and pop culture.
Our names are Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews and we are two Melbourne-based journalists in our 20s who love the news cycle, but think young women are all too often excluded from it.
What do we do?
As the podcast for smart women who love dumb stuff, every Monday we recap the week that was in the celebrity space.
You know, the dumb stuff! The frivolous things! The women’s issues!
In under a year, we’ve been downloaded 1,000,000 times, been named in Apple’s ‘Best of 2018’ podcasts, written about in The Age and Marie Claire, and awarded an ‘Editors pick’ spot by Spotify.
Why do we do what we do?
You see, dumb stuff doesn’t have to be dumb. Our obsession with Married at First Sight can say a lot about what can capture a zeitgeist, much like a British tabloid’s incessant fascination with Meghan Markle can say volumes about our treatment of women in the public eye.
We like the dumb stuff and we like the smart stuff and we think you probably do, too.
So, that’s it?
Well, not quite. Sorry.
Just because we really like assaulting your ears with our own voices, every second Thursday we drop an In Conversation episode - a chat, really - with someone we consider inspiring, interesting or with a jolly good (yes, jolly good) story to tell.
We also have a weekly newsletter brimming with feelings and recommendations that you can find here.
We hope you enjoy. And if you don’t, well, just don’t tell us, OK?
